Stentor: Ladies crowns on an nineteenth century ‘daybed’ (2006) Marion Groenewoud

Chairs, a so-called ‘Daybed’ or a tree ornament. They were allowed to choose something from the collection of Museum de Fundatie. Six nominated artists for the ArtEz Academy Award combined their own work with an original museum piece. The exhibition ‘MIX Fundatie ArtEZ’ promises a ‘cross-fertilization’ between new and old.

Colleague Elise van der Linden (23) makes an arrangement of old chairs from various style rooms of Het Nijenhuis. On the furniture she projects images of a growing ivy. ‘I was inspired by the 17th century wallpaper patterns of Daniël Marot from the castle at Heino. I have transferred and updated these. The classic chairs are now, as it were, overgrown with plants.
