‘Capacity’ is inspired by the shapes of old fortified towns. Viewed from above, you recognize the angular contours that characterize fortifications. The artwork floated in the canal that was once part of the defense of Deventer.

The work arose from the idea that there is a field of tension between the ever-growing human structures and other natural forces (such as water, plants and animals) that claim their own space.

Paths run across the artwork and there are open spaces in it, so that waterfowl can climb on it to make it their own.

The artwork has now been moved to the moat of the Nijenhuis Castle of Museum de Fundatie.
