YOU ARE HERE FOR THE FIRST HOW DO YOU FIND IT?
‘You see many colors and small tents. I was immediately curious about what happens in all those tents. Usually you go to famous names in the theater, now you really have to turn a button, be open and be surprised. It is not necessarily that I think: I have been blown away. But it’s always nice to see new things.’

We first went to the exhibition Shades of Silence by Elise van der Linden, where the theme of time is central and you wander through a world of landscapes and architecture. How was that?
‘Very special. I love dilapidated, old things that have a story behind them. Especially the video projection where the combination of nature and dilapidated buildings comes to the fore, I found beautiful and soothing. ‘

At one point, this exposition about the vulnerability of people interacts with nature. How do I see this?
‘Most people see themselves as disconnected from nature. But we are part of a larger whole and are not far from nature at all. Many things that happen in nature also happen to man. If the seasons change, for example, we also change. I think this exhibition is a great way to make people aware of this. It is not something that people think about every day. Everyone wants to live in a beautiful world. But people do not realize that we have that in our own hands. If you do not stand still, you can not change anything. You just have to always contribute your part. ”

Elise van der Linden also plays with the concept of time. Are you aware of your time here?
“I have learned to live in the moment. It is of no use to be very busy with the future or with the past – that is over. You just have to start from the now. It is not that I do not plan, but I do not mind it very much. Suppose I am not there tomorrow, how do I fill in my day? ”

How did you learn that?
‘Reading a lot of books and gaining life experience. The society is also very organized on goals. If I have achieved that, then I am happy. You will not enjoy the road there. ”

Are you happy now?
‘Yes. Of course I also have goals, but I try to enjoy what I am now

Do you have a musical goal?
‘I see my creativity as a means to make people aware of themselves. Everyone has a talent or a story. If everyone shares this story, you have an interaction of inspiration. This does not necessarily have to be music, but can also be a daily moment. That is why I believe very much in being loving to other people – wherever you go. You must always try to be open to others.

We also need more space in our heads to let our hearts speak. We think so much about everything. People like to paint a picture of what someone else thinks. If we let that thinking rest, the heart will take over.

The second performance we visited was Facts about Fiction, where facts were presented in 15 minutes. What did you think of this?
‘The concept was great, but I had to get in to it. There were breaks between the facts. I personally needed more action. It was interesting because you do not know what was and was not true. This performance took place in a very small, intimate space and that can quickly become awkward. You should also be able to do that as an artist. Maybe that’s it. ”

What?
“That its my own insecurity. That I think: I want more spunk, because I think it’s awkward. But I do not know the intentions of the makers, maybe they want to create awkwardness.’

Do you see yourself acting in such a small space?
‘I thought during the performance: How would I find that in such a small space with so many people? But I do not know how I would experience that. You also have to be able to deal with the emotions of the visitors.
